Friday Ramblings

Looking forward to an awesome Mardi Gras 1/2 this Sunday. Not sure it will be streaming, but certainly will be following online. Good luck to all competitors racing - wish I could be there!

Still not 100%, definitely battling this cold which has started to rear its ugly head. Wednesday, opted for the comforts of the treadmill instead of the unsavory cold. Felt eh starting out, but got into a nice groove. Nothing spectacular to report, I survived. Total mileage: 5.25 miles - total time on was 43 minutes or so.

Yesterday, not feeling the best yet again. Went to my friend's place after work to battle his treadmill. Ran first mile pretty quick, but then the treadmill started acting funny and actually started to slow down a little. I couldn't increase the speed (wtf?!), so I countered its move by increasing the incline to 3 degrees. Did another mile, short cool down, went outside and did some hill repeats to finish off the workout. No point in pushing it too hard, when I am sick. Total mileage: ~3 miles - splits were: 6:34, 6:44 (w/3 degree incline).

Coughing up a lung today at work, blah. Kind of wanted to do an easy run just for mileage, but may just opt for sleep. Tomorrow, long run with Crystal and Mike, then headed to Peoria to celebrate Dad's 62nd birthday!

Sick

Totally crapped out on my workout yesterday. Had a rough day at work coughing up a lung/sneezing, and went home feeling like complete garbage. Dressed up, decided to give it a go, went up the track. Was sunny and breezy, and a bit chilly (30's?). Did quick warmup, jumped right into the 2 mile rep. Legs felt ok, and went out too fast but slowed down to even it out since I knew I needed to conserve any energy that I had. Went through the first mile at 6:01, noticed my quarter splits were slowing down even though my effort level seemed to be picking up since I was trying to fight through it. Did another quarter, slowest split yet, quit on the spot. Jogged about a half mile, ran one more quarter hard to see where I was at - 1:32, this workout wasn't going to happen today. Packed up my things, went home.

Met up with Pat, Crystal, and Stacy at the new pizza place in town called Peel. This place makes wood fired pizzas of many varieties, and we tried a few different ones, all of which were good. The undisputed winner was the chicken gorgonzola pizza, just delicious! Made myself eat a ton, went home, chugged half a bottle of Nyquil, and immediately went to bed. Feel a little better today, definitely slept like a rock which was nice. Might get in my easy run tonight a la treadmill, if I don't feel too worse later.

Weekend Update/What day is this?!

I seriously had to look at my calendar to see what day is today is. On Saturday morning, I woke up thinking it was Sunday. I am starting to become a complete mess, I swear I don't know what is going on these days. Fortunately, started to turn the corner from my crappy running with a few solid workouts.

Friday, day off. Didn't do much at night, did some light stretching, went out to Fast Eddie's for a short nightcap to meet up with some friends. Saturday, woke up kind of late (still can't get enough sleep!), Crystal texted me saying she wasn't feeling well and wasn't running, so instead of getting up I laid in bed FOREVER. Finally, peeled my lazy carcass out of bed, and moved down to the couch where I laid around for another hour watching movies. Around 1 p.m., realized if this long run wasn't getting done soon, it wasn't at all so changed and pushed myself out the door. Weather was GORGEOUS - sunny, in the 50's, trails were littered with people. First shorts run of the year, which was nice. Had trouble deciding which route I was going, ultimately decided on Troy, hoping all the snow/ice was melted at this point. Warmup mile felt good and relaxed, a lot faster than I wanted, but decided to not look at the watch much and go by feel. Blazed thru the first half of the run, turned around into a few miles uphill and picked it up to counter the 3-4 miles slight uphill. At this point, sun was killing me since I was getting super hot, and was counting the steps till I got to the water fountain at Drost Park, roughly 5 miles away from home. Got there, water fountain is shut off. @!*&#@!@*#@! Just wanted to get home at this point, and was getting really tired, so went faster than I should have and got home and drank water consecutively for a good 5 minutes. I'm not sure how I didn't pass out, I am quite positive I didn't come up for air during those 5 minutes. Total mileage: 16 miles - splits were: 7:35, 7:25, 7:24, 7:23, 7:25, 7:23, 7:22, 7:25, 7:24, 7:18, 7:17, 7:05, 7:07 (half marathon split was 1:36:12), 7:08, 7:07, 7:05.

Pretty awesome run, waaaay too fast, but definitely a confidence builder for me. Nice negative split, felt good throughout most of it. I struggled at the end a bit, but more from lack of hydration and crappy breakfast. So afterwards, went to go take my customary long shower - the type where you almost feel obligated to send money to Africa since you've used so much water. Anyways, the hot water starts coming out, and I started to scream in pain - stupidly, I forgot to use Body Glide on my long run, and completely chafed away the inner part of my legs. I have never had a more excruciatingly painful shower than that - it still hurts to walk, even today! Went to trivia night with some friends at night over in Richmond Heights - had a blast, we finished 4th out of 32 teams so very respectable. Sunday, woke up to ridiculous soreness (I.T. band, quads), and limped around all day. Since I had put in some ridiculous work on my long run, didn't feel overly guilty for skipping out on the 7 mile pace (got in good pace work on my long run). The all day rain didn't help, and just didn't want to mess with limping through a workout. So hit 40 miles last week, not too shabby, wanted more but was a solid week's work.

Monday, got in an easy run with the Big River Running group. Went to their South City store, and New Balance was out there doing wear tests on their shoes. I talked with one of the reps, and she gave me the NB 760, which wasn't too different from the 900 series I had run for years - just slightly heavier, for higher mileage purposes. The Monday Running groups that BRR does runs 3 different loops, and Pat, Crystal, and I opted for the middle loop which was roughly 4.3 miles. We ran to Francis Park, which is pretty much a huge rectangle and did a couple laps around there before heading back. Lots of people out, pretty awesome to have good participation - South City running community is definitely very strong. Shoes felt pretty good for the most part, but the arch felt a little high for me. Otherwise, a very good trainer, very comfortable, lots of cushioning, and I gave a good review on it. The run felt ok, I felt like crap but made it through. Still some lingering soreness, but could move ok. Afterwards, got a nice dinner at Buffalo Brewing Company, which is pretty close to downtown and Harriss Stowe University, off Olive. Great food, good beer, nice place to eat - will definitely be back.

Tonight, speedwork, 2 miles@race pace, 1 mile fast, 2 miles@race pace - the workout I circled on this schedule that is going to be tough. Think good thoughts for me!

Treadmilling Continues...

Ugh, regretting not running the Mardi Gras 1/2 Marathon - look at this lineup! Wanjiru, Lel, Goumri, Kibet?! This is like the freaking Kenyan nationals, as well as other elites! Too bad Ryan Hall isn't running as originally planned, that would have been quite a battle, and I suspect we may have a few sub 60 minute times next weekend.

Wednesday, pretty tired after work, am still sort of sick so opted for treadmill running. Watched the Olympics while I did it, which made it go by so fast. Absolutely motivating to watch those events, really had to keep myself from taking off. Pace felt good, slightly faster than I originally planned, but could handle it fine. Could have ran a lot longer. Stretched afterwards, watched Shaun White tear it up and win the Gold for the USA which was AWESOME. Total mileage: ~5.5 miles - took about 45 minutes total.

Thursday, had plans to go see Daniel Lee perform - Lee is the principal cellist for the St. Louis Symphony, and absolutely an amazing talent. Was pretty time crunched, so did treadmill running at my friend's place. Was scheduled to do a 2 mile time trial, but didn't have a track or a GPS watch, so opted for the treadmill. Sort of changed my mind to have an easy workout, and it turned into a cutdown tempo. Didn't feel too great after a couple miles, but slowly got in my groove. Felt really good at the end, could have done 2 more at cutdown if forced to. Light stretching afterwards, another day of no corework but will do light drills tonight to make up for it. Total mileage: ~7.5 miles - estimated splits were: 7:30, 7:20, 7:10, 7:00, 6:50, 6:40, 6:30.

So runs are starting to get better, I was worried since it had been a while since I've had days where I've felt pretty good. Definitely going to enjoy the day off today, long run Saturday, then pace run on Sunday to round out a good running week. TGIF!!!!!

Turbo Fast Update

Falling massively behind, so giving a Cliff Notes version of the weekend/running. But first, found this definition which pretty much sums up my feelings on treadmill running:

treadmill (n.) - A primitive torture device first imagined by medieval jailers and perfected in the late 20th century, designed to destroy one's mind through sensory deprivation and monotony.

Curses to this crappy weather which has made me run more on a treadmill this month than all of last year combined, curses to this cold/whatever I have that is sapping all my energy, curses to work for giving me a stress level I never knew I had, and mostly curses again to Mother Nature who is making it impossible to keep up a consistent weather block where I can run outside in peace!

Friday night, got in a make up run before the blizzard that came through. Was cold and windy, ran slow because I felt like crap. Didn't get in the long run I wished for, but planned on it for Saturday morning since Tim said I could go to this parent's gym with him and hit up the treadmill. Light stretching afterwards. Total mileage: 6 miles - no idea how long I was out there, 50-54 minutes?

Saturday morning, woke up bright and early to get in a treadmill run. Picked up Tim around 7 a.m., headed over to his parent's gym and busted out some treadmill time. Awesome that the treadmill had little tv monitors on them, so was watching all sorts of shows. Not awesome that the gym had poor air circulation, so within 10 minutes I was DRENCHED in sweat. The heat was not making running any easier, as I had problems sustaining 9 minute pace which made the lower 8's almost intolerable towards the end. The treadmills had 1 hour timers - after it finished, told Tim I had to go outside to cool down because it was so hot inside. Coolest scene was us outside in the cold just resting, and you couldn't see hardly anything around us because of the steam - wish I had a camera. Decided we were done with the torture in the sauna/gym, headed home to do some outdoor running. Did around 4 miles outside, was snowy/icy and windy, but much more tolerable than the first hour of running. Total mileage: ~12 miles - ran for around 1:45, splits were everywhere. Supposed to be 1:30 (3/1), but had no energy.

Mardi Gras that night, just mayhem and words can't explain the crowds, drinking, debauchery, craziness, etc. Went down with Tim, Pat, and Crystal, hung out with Tim and Barrel a lot, have pictures I need to post! Consequently, woke up on Sunday feeling like I was going to die. Legs were mush, decided to take a couple days off to recharge since the last week of runs were pretty much crap, and I am battling some sort of cold. Week mileage was about 37 miles - not bad, not good.

Monday, was going to take off but was guilted into it by eating way too much food. Did treadmill run, wasn't very pretty and I was pretty tired. Some silly girl got on next to me and decided to push the pace which was aggravating to me for some reason, so my competitive juices flowed and I got in a nice little battle with her as to who could go the fastest. Ended up going from mid 8's to marathon pace, not a good idea because I felt like poop. Air circulation was an issue, as was the beaming light above me that was emitting more radiant heat. Total mileage: ~5.5 miles - total time ran was about 44 minutes.

Tuesday, got home after work, completely passed out in exhaustion for 5 or so hours. Woke up late, was pretty windy and cold. Scheduled 20X400's, considered skipping and pushing back but remembered a quote from Ben that went something like - "every run missed is an opportunity to get better". Absolutely guilted myself into running (with a little pep texting from Tim), left my apt. at 10 p.m. to do the workout. Track is covered in snow and ice, so ran down towards the trail and measured out a quarter mile on the straightaway which is somewhat flat. Slight curves, had to draw a long, thick line in the snow to have a marker (light post/street sign was the other marker). Fortunately, found a mailbox that was right about the 200 meter marker (and coincidentally by a street light), so had some ability to watch my splits. Was cold, dark, windy, just awful to be outside, but finished the workout. Was supposed to divide into sets of 5, and decrease each set by 2-3 seconds, but found it nearly impossible to do so since I was running in the dark on the roads, and kept going out the first 200's in 38-41 seconds, consequently having to slow down considerably towards the end. First 10 went by pretty fast, but was a pain because the wind (going one way was downwind, the other was into the wind). Got my legs back for 12-16, but was definitely feeling the deadened leg feeling. Made it a point to relax as much as possible on the last set, consequently hit my fastest splits there. Despite splits being all over the map, was very pleased. Total mileage: 7 miles - 400 splits were: 1:25, 1:29, 1:25, 1:28, 1:25, 1:28, 1:26, 1:27, 1:26, 1:29, 1:26, 1:25, 1:25, 1:24, 1:23, 1:23, 1:21, 1:22, 1:17, 1:17.

1 mile cooldown back home, suddenly felt this feeling of dread that I forgot something. Got back home, no keys to be found. And it was 11:30 p.m. - FML!!!!!! Knocked on any neighbor's door that had light on, finally found one that was still awake. Thank God that everyone in that area knows I run a crapload, so she wasn't surprised I was out running. Asked for any old credit card, so I could attempt to pick my lock (this has happened before). After she found an old student I.D., she watched incredulously as I picked my lock in about 30 seconds. Did long stretching, opted out of corework since it was so late and I was exhausted.

Tonight, easy run, probably will do some drills or plyos to make up for tomorrow's workout which is improved because of the symphony. Will do some sort of run, haven't detemined what yet but will try to make it challenging :)

Mardi Gras Weekend!

Excited for the Mardi Gras weekend! This will be the first time I will be in Soulard for what is considered the 2nd biggest Mardi Gras celebration (behind New Orleans) - I went downtown when I was younger with Pat, and have never been that big of a Mardi Gras guy but with Tim coming into town, might as well check it out! However, there are tons of running to do outside of all this fun...

Wednesday, got in a whopping 0 miles. Had an education class at work which lasted late, went and got a few drinks afterwards, completely crapped out. Not the biggest deal, as I can work this mileage in this weekend. Yesterday, felt like crap pretty much all day, got started pretty late, and decided against the scheduled speed work since I didn't think I could do it (2X2 at race pace). At the last second, decided to give it a go - opted for treadmill running, although might have been able to run on the roads since the conditions are much better right now. Did 1 up to Pat and Crystals, then started my workout. Got through the first set ok, but was struggling a little on the last half mile and the legs were definitely going out. Took 5 minutes in between, sucked down some water and hoped my legs would come back. Started the 2nd rep, pretty much crapped out after a couple minutes so dropped the pace down to marathon pace. Struggled through 8 minutes of that, jacked it back up to my original pace and finished it out. 2 mile cooldown afterwards, light stretching, legs felt like complete mush. Total mileage: 7 miles - 2 mile splits were: 12:00, 14:06.

So failed miserably on my attempt to complete this workout, and I have pretty much come to the conclusion that speed work is really hard to do on treadmills. Pretty tired today, but am going to try to get in my long run tonight, then easy runs on Saturday and Sunday. Pretty worn down right now from a couple stressful weeks of work plus hard training, so will definitely opt for a ton of rest when I can get it. Happy Mardi Gras and Valentine's Day Weekend to all!

Go away snow...

Snow is killing my workouts right now. Going to have to treadmill it up the rest of this week and who knows how much longer? Just looked at my Boston countdown clock - Boston is only 68 days away!

Monday, got in quick run after work. Was pretty nasty outside, snowing a little and just ominous clouds everywhere. Did a different loop on the trails (for variety), snow and ice patches everywhere so kept it slow. Didn't bring a watch, just ran around for a while. Total mileage: ~5.25 miles.

Tuesday, had to keep the run indoors. Snowed on Monday night, and the cold temperatures made the trails I'm sure even more slick. Went to Pat and Crystals for my speedwork (8X600 at 5K pace) - wasn't particularly looking forward to running repeats at a high pace, but actually wasn't as bad as I thought. Did a warmup and jumped right into it. Struggled with the first couple, but the rest of the reps flew by pretty quickly. Quickened the pace the last few, felt pretty good by the last one, definitely was nice not to be battling the cold/nasty winds outside. Did quick coooldown, quit before I wanted to because I was getting bored, but still got in solid mileage. Total mileage: 6 miles - 600's ranged from 2:06-2:10.

Crystal made a wonderful dinner afterwards - enchilada casserole, yummy! Body/legs were feeling like complete garbage all weekend, but feel pretty decent today. Have been battling a bum ankle for quite a while now - was nice to have the comforts of the treadmill, allowing myself to take it easier so I actually feel really good right now. Maybe treadmilling it for a few more days won't be so bad after all...

Saints Victorious!

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints for the winning the Super Bowl! NO should be partying for about the rest of their lives, and I can only imagine the Mardi Gras festivities this year to be beyond out of control. A nice touching moment from Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees and his son in the video above. Sort of wish I was doing the Mardi Gras half, but probably better that I didn't :) Got to watch the Reebox Indoor Games on Saturday, and was pretty motivated to see Bernard Legat and Nick Willis tear it up in the 5K and mile - Legat actually set an indoor American record, congrats to him!

Weekend running went ok. Friday, enjoyed the day off and had dinner/drinks with Pat and Crystal - looks like we are back on our customary Friday night dinners and Blue Moon. Saturday, did our long run with Tom and Pat on trails. Had snowed a little on Friday, so there was some snow and a few slippery spots on the trail. Weather was chilly but sunny, so bearable. First few miles had a little layer of slushy snow, but was fine to run through. Felt pretty good through the first half of the run, and was very peaceful on the trails. Wind was being blocked by the trees, and was perfect to run. Coming back, got cloudier and consequently chillier. Legs started to feel pretty heavy, and by the last few miles I was getting really tired. Going uphill in the snow wasn't helping things either. Was definitely running on fumes the last mile. Total mileage: 14 miles - don't have the splits on hand, but hit 8:45 average. Highlight of the run was around the 10th mile, when we encountered a car coming towards us on the crosswalk. The driver is going pretty quick, so we basically stopped halfway on the crosswalk to let him pass. Well, the jackass slams on his brakes at the last second in true dramatic fashion, does the palms up thing and definitely dropped an f bomb. Crystal yells at the driver "It's a crosswalk!!!!" and theatrically points up and down the entire cross walk. And I flipped the driver the bird as he honked at us while we were running away. Hilarious stuff, always entertaining to watch Crystal engage in her "flirtatious" bantering with the ridiculous drivers of Glen Carbon.

Legs were absolutely dead the rest of the day, felt like I had run 20 miles, didn't do much the rest of the day/night but watched my Illini take out 5th ranked Michigan State at home :) Sunday, slept in, dragged my sorry carcass out for the scheduled pace run. Starting to get sick, and felt like garbage. Weather was cold but sunny. Started out immediately at pace (should have warmed up), was going a little faster than I should have but felt good. Second mile, started feeling like crap again and my legs were starting to give out. Struggled through the next couple miles when I had to stop for a break. Jogged the 5th mile and felt sorry for myself for a while, but snapped out of my funk and literally made myself finish the last 2 miles at pace. Felt better, but died out on the last hilly mile. Was completely done, not a very good run at all. Total mileage: 7 miles - splits were: 7:00, 6:58, 7:03, 7:02, bad mile, 6:56, 6:52.

Well, the week started out well but kind of died off at the end. Got in 42 miles, so pleased about that and hoping I feel better soon. Legs are so heavy today, so will be going on a very slow jog this evening after work assuming that it isn't snowing like crazy tonight...

Super Bowl Weekend!

My buddy Marc sent me this article about racing and your ideal weight which I thought was interesting. I have gotten down to 160 at times for racing, but usually fluctuate around 165-170 depending on how bad my diet has been during that time. Amazingly, I was closer to 170 for Chicago last year, but still ran a great race so no complaints there. For Boston, would love to get down to 155 to see how I would run then, but my discipline on diet is just awful right now as I'm eating literally everything in sight!

Wednesday, got in a nice run after work with Stacy over at Creve Couer Park (see picture). This park is located pretty close to work, and I'm ashamed to say I had never run it before. The running/bike trails pretty much circle this gigantic lake, and is very scenic and full of people. Was chilly outside and breezy, and we did a nice run all the way around. Nothing special to report, pace was fine and felt good when we finished. Total mileage: 4 miles - forgot the splits, but we ran for roughly 38 minutes.

Yesterday, had my scheduled tempo. Weather was looking ominous for the evening and Friday, so got home as quickly as possible to get in my run. Was cool and breezy again (30's) and once again overcast. I swear we've seen the sun like twice this year! Did a warmup to the trails, wanted to do the same loop I did last week which is relatively flat with a few hills in the middle, but pretty open in those middle miles which allows wind to be a factor. Quick side note - a reoccurring problem I am starting to see with my Garmin is that pace/mile jumps so much, that is almost impossible to gauge how fast I am really going, especially since I typically just glance at my watch here and there. Went out pretty hard, caught myself getting too fast so slowed it down. Was getting tired on the second mile, hit the third hard to get out of the wind. Last mile, had a nice pep talk with myself to try to relax and ease through the final mile, which kind of worked. Total mileage: 6 miles - splits on tempo were: 6:08, 6:19, 6:11, 6:10.

Felt like poop afterwards, went too fast but was pretty happy to nail this workout. Cooldown was sort of rough, and since I walked a quarter mile of it intended on going back out later to get in another mile or 2 but totally failed in that endeavor. Going to enjoy the day off, Saturday long run with Crystal and Super Bowl Sunday pace run as well. Hoping for a great game, both teams are deserving to win so good luck to both!

Tired and Beat Up...

is how I feel right now. Body is just worn out, from jumping back into good training and crazy work schedule. This weekend will be nice to sleep in a ton, and try to catch up with as much rest as possible! Found this cool little interview with U.S. Olympian Brian Sell, talking about post professional running and what he is up to right now.

Monday, dragged myself outside pretty late after coming soooo close to skipping my easy run. Weather was cool and breezy outside (low 30's), was a rough run for me mentally because I was pretty much whining to myself the entire time how tired I was. In that sense, went by kind of fast. Did a loop around my neighborhood, nothing special to report. Legs felt tired. Total mileage: 5 miles - no idea time or splits, went sans watch and didn't pay attention but guessing 40-45 minutes. Stretching and corework afterwards.

Yesterday, ended up working pretty late and consequently didn't get in my scheduled track work until much later. Went out to the middle school track, did the crappiest warmup possible because I just wanted to get at it. Weather was low 30's and pretty breezy, which I wasn't very pleased about. Workout was 3XMile, 10-15 seconds faster than race pace. Was a little nervous about this one, since the last time I was on the track I could barely hit the pace I was aiming for for my 800's. Not the biggest fan of mile repeats, but this workout seemed to go by pretty fast which was a good feeling. First repeat felt pretty decent - went out slightly faster than I wanted to, but felt good at the end. Second was pretty much the same, felt deadened legs early but made it through with no problems. Third one, struggled a bit at the beginning, but hung on. Last 400, really had to tell myself to keep relaxing and just glide through. Hit a great split, was tired but very pleased. 3 mile cooldown afterwards, nice and slow through town. Total mileage: 6 miles - mile splits were: 5:50, 5:46, 5:44.

Nailed the workout, feeling like I'm not super slow anymore which is a good feeling. Dinner plans over in West County tonight, so doing easy run with Stacy after work at Creve Couer Park. The park is located really close to work, and have never run it before so looking forward to checking it out!

Week 1 Training Complete!

Congrats to Bernard Legat for winning his unprecedented 8th Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games - Legat ran 3:56:34 in the mile and is showing no signs of slowing down! Sara Hall finished runner up in the mile by 0.02 seconds, just missing on her final kick!

Had a pretty decent weekend of running. Saturday, dragged our sorry butts to the trail for a long run. Was freezing cold outside - low 20's and windy! Felt tired starting out, but sort of got into a rhythm as the run progressed. Hit the long Meridian Hill, and at that point decided to loop all the way around instead of coming back, since we were trying to hit at pace the last few miles. There was some ice on the trail, so didn't want to mess with that not to mention running back into the wind and uphill. The uphill didn't really seem to end, but finally made it to the top and started picking it up slightly in anticipation for the marathon pace portion of the run. The last few miles were nice, because it was pretty much downwind and we had rolling hills to work with instead of just continuous uphill. Crystal and I both hit hills pretty aggressively, which made our splits faster. Kind of got carried away on the last mile, was pretty tired at the end but nailed the workout. Total mileage: 11 miles - splits were (don't remember exactly but guessing): 8:13, 8:16, 8:14, 8:23, 8:24, 8:27, 8:27, 8:08, 7:22, 7:07, 6:49, 8:23 (cooldown).

Made the mistake of not stretching too well afterwards, IT bands in both knees flared up at night and had to do some massive stretching at 3 a.m. to minimize the damage. Didn't sleep much that night, mostly from staying up to watch the Australian Open men's final (Go Roger!), so was sleepwalking most of Sunday. Did our pace run in the early afternoon, weather was warmer (30's) and sunny. Wasn't feeling too hot, so was hoping this would go ok. Did out and back on the trails, nothing crazy to report other than I was getting really tired towards the end. Swirling winds didn't really help much either, but was definitely glad to get that run over with. Total mileage: 6 miles - splits were: 7:13, 6:54, 7:08, 7:15, 7:15, 7:16.

So Week 1 of Boston Training is over - 39+ miles, hit all my workouts as scheduled. I feel pretty beat up, which isn't the best thing so will be careful this week on the hard workouts. Everything feels hard now, but body is still adjusting back to getting back on track. Easy run tonight, mile repeats tomorrow!

Got some more pics from the Fast and Flurryous race from 2 weekends ago - awesome stuff!

Coolest photo I have ever had taken of me - Tim and I battling the hills

Start of the race

Somewhere on the first loop, I am pretty sure I was dead at this point
