Back to the grind...

Stretches in the pool, Shalane interview Part 1, Shalane interview Part 2, "winning is contagious" claims Mo Farah, Falmouth recap, and the much anticipated return of Kenenisa Bekele at the World Championships.

Friday, August 12 - 4 miles treadmill. Travel day for me to Chi, so squeezed in a quickie during lunch. 35 minutes I think?

Saturday, August 13 - 0! Got in uber late on Friday night, stayed up till 4 a.m. or so having a few adult beverages and catching up with the sister. Late start to the day, missed a Lakeshore opportunity so was kicking myself.

Sunday, August 14 - 4 miles. Lakeshore , my favorite place to run. Enough said. Nice group run with Ben, Megan, and I on a pretty windy day. Headed north with a strong tailwind - on the way back, was pelted by sand and ended up detouring through the park and zoo. Fun to get out, felt pretty good albeit we were going really slow. 36:38 total time I think?

32 miles this week - not very good, but had some solid workouts so not too mad at myself considering travel weekend.

Monday, August 15 - 6 miles and drills. First run with Crystal in what seemed to be an eternity. Nice evening to run, typical track work and drills. Felt pretty good for the most part - a little concerning that 8:20 pace feels like I'm going fast, which means I'm doing my easy runs too slow. 49:35 total time, picked up the last mile a bit for fun.

Tuesday, August 16 - 6 miles? (1 up, 3 x (2 min on, 2 min off, 1 min on, 1 min off, 30 sec on, 30 sec off), 2 down). Nice group to the track (Pat, Crystal, Megan, Lara, Tim and I), as we ran with a bunch of people and the middle school football team practicing on the field. Legs felt like poo, so opted to do C's workout instead of the grueling 1200's (plus some hard workouts scheduled later this week and need some juice for the legs). Easy warmup with Tim, hit the workout pretty easily. Didn't feel too bad, and spent the majority of time chasing Crystal as she took off like a moped. Last set - started to have some massive GI issues, which are never fun. Paces for the hard portion of the fartlek were 5:30-5:50 range, so happy. Ended up leaving the track to go to the bathroom, easy 2 mile cooldown around the neighborhood with Tim to finish the workout.

Legs feel like garbage today, as does my body probably from allergies which have been severely acting up as of late. Easy tonight, Thursday 3X2 miles at tempo will be rough.
